First off I’m so glad that the Mets season is almost over but getting swept by the Nationals hurts. I have never seen such an atrocious team in my life.
With basketball season right around the corner, I might be opening more basketball packs. Although, I don’t think I’ll do the Card of the Game segment with the Knicks. Honestly, I don’t have much faith in them. Anyways, this is a rack pack of Topps Basketball 2009-10.
Luc Mbah a Moute
Trevor Ariza Gold 202/2009
Quentin Richardson- Got traded 4 times this offseason
Robin Lopez- Not nearly as good as his brother
Right off the bat, I notice there are a lot of action shots in the set. Some may say the photos are too busy and the person on the card might not stand out but I say it makes the cards more exciting. However, there are some poor choices like this.
Topps must have had an action shot where Dwight’s face not his butt is facing the camera.
Unfortunately I didn’t get any cards of players I collect. (Kyle Korver, Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian, Sun Yue?, David Lee, Nate Robinson, Danilo Gallinari, etc) The two Knicks I did get are only on the team for salary cap reasons. But the three cards that do stand out are the Trevor Ariza parallel and the two rookies, Hasheem Thabeet and Jonny Flynn. I follow the Rockets (mostly because of Yao Ming) and they have been devastated by injuries as of late. But unlike the Mets, the Rockets seem to play alright with their role players and prospects picking up the slack. Ariza would have to step up and play a big role with Yao Ming, Ron Artest and possibly Tracy McGrady gone from the team. (Did you know Tracy McGrady is paid more than anyone else in the league this year?) Thabeet and Flynn are probably one of the better rookie cards you can get in this year’s weak draft.
