This is the last WEC card ever and I am sure they will go out with a bang. As for trading cards, WEC fighters never got a fair shake. There is only a small WEC subset in 2010 Topps Main Events and a couple of fighters had cards in 2010 Leaf MMA. I mean Dominick Cruz doesn’t even have a card and he is the Bantamweight champ! It is such a shame. WEC fighters are among the most talented and exciting in the sport. I am sure that is about to change though, given that WEC fighters would be just UFC fighters in 2011.
Ben Henderson vs Anthony Pettis
Ben Henderson by Judges’ Decision
Pettis has a nice little three fight win streak since his loss to Bart Palaszewski and he probably coming off his most impressive performance of his career against Shane Roller. He definitely deserves the number one contendership but I think it will be Ben Henderson in the future title unification bout. I am very high on Henderson and he has some classic fights with the WEC. He is well rounded and always shows a lot of heart. Again if he beats Pettis, we will finally find out where he ranks with the UFC Lightweights.
Dominick Cruz vs Scott Jorgensen
Dominick Cruz by Knockout in the Second
Scott Young Guns Jorgensen is probably one of the more promising up and coming Bantamweights but Dominick Cruz is at a whole different level. Cruz only loss was against Urijah Faber and since then has been dominating everyone in his path. He is my top 10 pound for pound rankings and Jorgensen really has his hands full here.
Donald Cerrone vs Chris Horodecki
Donald Cerrone by Judges’ Decision
Donald Cowboy Cerrone had never looked better in his grudge match against Jamie Varner. He faces The Polish Hammer Chris Horodecki and if the Varner fight was any indication Cerrone should dominate this fight as well.
Bart Palaszewski vs Kamal Shalorus
Bart Palaszewski by Judges’ Decision
This may be an important fight for both fighters are the Lightweight division is getting a little crowded with the merger. The loser may very well be released. Anyways the first thought that comes to mind when I think of Kamal Shalorus is all those low blows against Varner. I hate Varner but even I felt sorry for him. Bart Palaszewski is the veteran here and he has been inconsistent in the past but since has a four fight win streak with one of those win against the number one contender Anthony Pettis. Shalorus has never loss until now.
Zhang Tie Quan vs Danny Downes
Zhang Tie Quan by Knockout in the First
There is no way I am picking against the Mongolian Wolf. He has an insane 12-0 record (all ending in the 1st round) and he had a very impressive USA debut. In fact he finished Pablo Garza so quickly that we didn’t see the full extend of his ability. I am sure this fight will be a better tell on where he places in the division.
