This is a solid card all around but is it just me or is the fight order is a little puzzling like say why isn’t Jon Bones Jones vs Ryan Darth Bader the co-main event? Whatever, it doesn’t really mean that much. I also noticed that I got the autographs a couple of fighters below and there is like no better time to show off my humble little collection.
Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort
Anderson Silva by Submission in the Third
There are those who are saying that Anderson Silva has not faced a striker the caliber of Vitor Belfort and that he is getting old. Well Silva’s striking isn’t too shabby either and from the Chael Sonnen fight, he finds ways to win no matter how dire the situation may be which is a trait all great champions have. It also helps that Belfort may have some serious ring rust since he hasn’t fought since 2009 due to a whole bunch of injuries.
Forrest Griffin vs Rich Franklin
Forrest Griffin by Judges’ Decision
Forrest Griffin has always been a bit overrated as is Rich Franklin who is also a bit over the hill (despite knocking out Chuck the Iceman Liddell in spectacular fashion in his last fight) so I am a bit torn on this one. I can see Griffin scrapping this fight for the win but don’t count out Rich Franklin. He just may very well have one more trick/ one more insane KO up his sleeve.
Jake Ellenberger vs Carlos Eduardo Rocha
Jake Ellenberger by Judges’ Decision
I am honestly not familiar with Carlos Eduardo Rocha so I am going with the veteran journeyman (even though he is just 25) Jake Ellenberger. But this is MMA and I wouldn’t be too surprised if Rocha turns out to be the next big thing (of course until he loses of course).
Jon Jones vs Ryan Bader
Jon Jones by Knockout in the First
This is going to be an awesome fight, matching UFC’s top two Light Heavyweight up and comers. Bones Jones has been on a tear as of late, destroying Vladimir Matyushenko, Brandon Vera and Matt Hamill. Bader himself has a very impressive perfect 12-0 record beating the likes of The Dean of Mean Keith Jardine and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. I know Darth Bader is a very dangerous man and is easily Bones Jones toughest opponent to date but I got to go with Jones. But honestly I may be influence by his exciting style and hype more than anything. Again I wouldn’t be too surprised if Bader is the man to ruin Bones Jones momentum. We’ll see.
Miguel Torres vs Antonio Banuelos
Miguel Torres by Knockout in the Second
It was good to see the old Miguel Torres back in a must win fight after dropping two straight. I am expecting/ hoping that he continues his comeback tour.
