Random Blaster Break: Gems of the Game Basketball Repack

Wow I never been more excited as a Knicks fan since like forever. That of course is to due the one and only Jeremy Lin. I think one of the consequences of the Knicks sucking so bad is that I haven’t been buying a lot of basketball packs lately but that (hopefully) is about to change.

You probably have seen these Gems of the Game repacks at Walmart, K-mart and the like. It is guarantee a hit (either a rookie card, game used card or and autographed card) and 10 packs.

For my hit I got a Tyson Chandler game used card which of course is packed without any protection what so ever with the packs loose and bouncing all over the place. The card isn’t damaged but it could very well be.

Anyways the card is pretty sweet. I am definitely looking to add more game used cards and autographs of the current Knicks which include Tyson Chandler, Melo, STAT, Landy Fields and Jeremy Lin (especially Jeremy Lin but boy did his cards shoot up in price). I used to have five or six Tyson Chandler game used cards and I traded most of them away. All wells. This is not a bad start or restart for that matter of the Tyson Chandler collection.

For my packs I got:
1998 Upper Deck Collector’s Choice
2007-08 Fleer Hot Prospects
2007-08 Topps Basketball
2008-09 Upper Deck Basketball
2008-09 Fleer Hot Prospects
2009-10 Donruss Elite
2009-10 Panini Threads
2009-10 Panini Basketball
2009-10 Panini Rookies & Stars
2009-10 Upper Deck Basketball

Not a bad mix of packs and here are the best of best.

It is interesting that many repacks today are mostly packs within the last 5 years or so. Does that mean the supply of crappy 80’s and 90’s packs have finally dry up??? Yea, probably not.

You got a yao, and a chandler. Nice pulls! You could possibly hope for a Jeremy Lin rookie card or auto from a panini prestige rack pack. That set had the most Lin cards.

  2. The Durant card is cool and the Gary Patton is a nice action shot with MJ! I haven’t tried those repacks. I might have to someday.
