This Saturday Meisha Tate and Ronda Rousey would fight for the future of Women’s MMA. If it turns out to be an exciting fight with a bunch of storylines to comes out from it (like say Sarah Kaufman calling out whoever wins) then Women’s MMA may be reinvigorated and if it is a snoozefest a Women’s MMA fight may not be the main event for quite some time.
Miesha Tate vs Ronda Rousey
Miesha Tate by Judges’ Decision
Compared to Rousey, Tate is a veteran of the sport and easily the more complete fighter. Rousey only has four fights in MMA and the only thing we know for sure is that she has a nasty arm bar. But I am sure Tate has been drilling her arm bar defense. This fight could be a great display of the ground game which each fighter attempting and defending submissions throughout… or it can be a boring stand up fight with neither fighter being aggressive.
KJ Noons vs Josh Thomson
KJ Noons by Judges’ Decision
Imagine if KJ Noons beat Nick Diaz. It would be the second time he did that and maybe he would be the one in the UFC instead of Strikeforce which for every fighter has to feel like purgatory. Josh Thomson has some shocking upsets in the pasts but KJ Noons is the more skilled striker and should pick Thomson apart.
Paul Daley vs Kazuo Misaki
Paul Daley by Knockout in the Second
Wow I totally forgot Paul Daley is back with Strikeforce. Paul Daley is probably known best for dishing out the pain, his brutal knockouts (and of course his sucker punch). Misaki is probably best known for taking a beating, not a good combination.
Ronaldo Souza vs Bristol Marunde
Ronaldo Souza by Submission in the First
Honestly I have no idea who Bristol Marunde is and Jacare is a former SF champ.
Scott Smith vs Lumumba Sayers
Scott Smith by Judges’ Decision
Took a look at Scott Smith’s record and wow he is in quite a losing streak, dropping 4 out of the last 5 fights. Lumumba Sayers is somewhat an unknown with really only one big win in his belt, Antwain Britt. Hmm bit unsure with this one but I say Scott Smith breaks out of his funk and wins this. He is a savvy veteran with a lot of heart. I just hope he doesn’t brutally get knocked out again.
Before the UFC acquired Strikeforce this undercard card have easily been the main card (ok maybe the main card of a Challengers event). Actually if Strikeforce/ Zuffa really cared about the Women’s division Sarah Kaufman vs Alexis Davis would be in the main card because it would totally set up for the next title fight in the division and bring just a bit more attention to it. Anyways it is a fight Sarah Kaufman should win and for the other undercard fights I got Pat Healy, Conor Heun (quite a step up for Ryan Couture) and Roger Bowling.
