MTG Brewer: My Take on the Human Reanimator Deck

I didn’t really expect much out of this deck and it first glance it seemed cute but I thought it wouldn’t be able to play through any hate. But it was right in my wheelhouse and I thought to give it a go. After playing with it and testing it out, it is just insane. It is surprisingly robust and consistent. I made a few tweaks from the stock list and I won my FNM with it.

Human Reanimator:
Creatures:

4 Angel of Glory’s Rise
3 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Fiend Hunter
4 Undercity Informer
1 Angel of Serenity
2 Zealous Conscripts

Spells:
4 Faithless Looting
3 Farseek
4 Grisly Salvage
4 Mulch
4 Unburial Rites

Lands:
3 Sacred Foundry
2 Overgrown Tomb
1 Godless Shrine
3 Forest
3 Clifftop Retreat
3 Dragonskull Summit
2 Sunpetal Grove
2 Rootbound Craig
1 Woodland Cemetery
2 Cavern of Souls
1 Slayer’s Stronghold

Human Reanimator

Sideboard:
4 Cathedral Sanctifier
2 Restoration Angel
1 Loxodon Smiter
1 Zealous Conscripts
3 Abrupt Decay
2 Slaughter Games
2 Nevermore

The combo is Unburial Rites into a Angel of Glory’s Rise bringing back Burning-Tree Emissary, Undercity Informer and Fiend Hunter. It creates a infinite loop and infinite mill. I tweaked the numbers of the some of the cards and I changed the manabase and sideboard a bit. The main change from Tzu Ching Kuo’s deck is a Angel of Serenity and 2 Zealous Conscripts for 3 Huntmaster of the Fells. Both cards have been insane for me. Sometimes a fourth turn Angel of Serenity is enough to win the game and Zealous Conscripts is just so versatile.

Again this deck can surprisingly play around and play through hate. It must be a nightmare to play against. There are so many different lines and Plan B’s in the deck. For example, how do you beat a Witchbane Orb? Steal it with a Zealous Conscripts of course and then go off. After sideboard, some players bring in so much hate that you can win by attacking with bunch of random angels and humans.

The lines for this deck can get complicated so it is one you must play yourself to get a hang of it. One bit of advice is to keep in mind of the stack and the timing of everything so you can play around removal and other random hate.

All in all it is a ton of fun to play and I recommend it to any Johnny or combo player look for a Standard deck to play.
