When it comes to bad comics, you will eventually come across two words… Rob Liefeld.
Rob Liefeld’s art has the tendency to look off at first glance and the more you look at it, the more off it looks. This is by the way a really, really nice way of putting it. Rob Liefeld’s covers have sort of become a game of how many things you can spot that is wrong with the art. Why don’t you give it a go? The Heroes Reborn reboot of Captain America aka Captain America Volume 2 has some of the worst art of any series published by the Big 2. The most infamous issue has to be Captain America #2 Vol 2.
Here is Captain America #4 Vol 2.
Wasn’t that fun? I admit these “games” are a main reason why Rob Liefeld’s comics made its way to my awesomely bad comics collection. Love his art or hate his art, they do evoke a reaction. Also note that Rob Liefeld is the writer for the series but let’s not focus on that. That will open a whole new can of worms.
With all that being said, Rob Liefeld’s art kind of has a charm about them. Rob Liefeld’s career is like those Disney Channel kid shows where the title character accidentally gets a job like say a fashion designer despite knowing he or she is totally not qualified and spends all episode just winging it while being surprised no one has caught on yet and in fact, people mistaken his or her incompetence for masterful works of art. It just gives you a good laugh about it all.
