A Couple of Dragon’s Maze and M14 Brews

A couple of cards from Dragon’s Maze and M14 have been spoiled the last couple of weeks and already I went deep in the tank to brew. Please note the ideas are still very raw. First off is a brew around Maze’s End.

4 Arbor Elf
4 Greenside Watcher
4 Gyre Sage
4 Elvish Visionary
4 Elvish Archdruid

4 Thragtusk
1 Hellraiser Goblin

4 Abundant Growth
3 Mana Bloom
3 Diabolic Revelation
1 Primal Surge

10 Forest
1 Overgrown Tomb
2 Gavony Township
1 Azorius Guildgate
1 Boros Guildgate
1 Dimir Guildgate
1 Golgari Guildgate
1 Gruul Guildgate
1 Izzet Guildgate
1 Orzhov Guildgate
1 Rakdos Guildgate
1 Selesnya Guildgate
1 Simic Guildgate
1 Maze’s End

You can win with elves or Primal Surge for the whole deck to win with Maze’ End (at you next upkeep since it comes in play tapped). The next brew is a bit incomplete. There has to be a combo to exploit Shadowborn Apostle and Immortal Servitude/ Faith’s Reward. Currently I have…

20 Shadowborn Apostle
1 Grisibrand
4 Harvester of Souls
3 Blood Artist

4 Faith’s Reward
4 Immortal Servitude

4 Godless Shrine
4 Isolated Chapel
4 Ghost Quarter
12 Swamps

The problem is this deck can’t produce enough mana with each loop to continue to go off. It is missing a piece to the puzzle and I really been exploring my options. One way to do is setting it up like Travis Woo’s Green Eggs deck with elves and mana dorks with haste + a sacrifice outlet. That would include way too many cards to be part of the combo. Another thing I can try is a bunch of Crypt Ghasts and clones (again another Travis Woo idea) and generate so much mana that it won’t be a problem but that idea has a huge bottleneck. I really want to make this deck work so I really open to any ideas. I cute version of this deck for Modern I see floating around is roughly 120 Shadowborn Apostles 4 Battle of Wits 4 Rune- Scarred Demons and a bunch of lands.
