(I recently opened up my old laptop and I found a cache of old written/ partial written blog posts. Some are a little dated but if you know me I don’t like anything going to waste!)
One of my first posts on this blog was how Obama memorabilia was invading the comic and card world and I was not too crazy about that. Well since then I accumulated quite a few Obamabilia without really actively pursuing them. Most of them were things I regularly buy anyways or promos I got for free.
First I got the famous Marvel Spiderman/ Obama team up comic (first edition too) but I can’t seem to find it right now. I remember there was a mad rush to get them which is why it is good to know someone in the comic book store who can save you a copy.
I got at least two Obama promo cards. One is Obama drawn by Scott Campbell, best known for his work with Gen 13. I don’t remember where I got it but it must have been free, probably packaged with a comic. The other card is of little Obama which I got from a Wizard magazine.
Speaking of Wizard magazines, I have two Obama covers including one drawn by the great Alex Ross. That cover is by far my favorite Obama memorabilia. In fact my brother has a t-shirt with that image of Super Obama.
I’m sure I got more Obama stuff lying around but I am in the process of cleaning my closet space so I don’t quite know where everything is. All in all, I’m kind of indifferent about the Obama cards, comics and magazines but as a collector I’ll keep almost anything in mint condition. But honestly I doubt anything would be worth much since the market is flooded with his image on practically anything.
(I completed a bunch of trades as of late so I am organizing/ writing up a big post on that some time soon. Also I have this idea of a Crap Hits Draft since I haven’t had a contest on this blog in awhile. I am just working out the idea in my head so stay tuned!)
