I have gotten pretty lucky with these 3 Point basketball card repacks before and given that they cost only $15, I can’t resist picking them up every time I visit a Target. They are guaranteed 4 packs (one of them is a hobby pack), one memorabilia card and one autograph.
My autograph is an awesome card of a player few even heard of. It is a Rookie Recruits autograph of Jermaine Taylor from the 2009-10 Panini Timeless Treasure set, #3/25. I googled Jermaine Taylor and apparently he is playing the in the Big 3 now so I guess I will keep an eye on him. My relic is of Gordan Giricek. I actually heard of the name only because I played a lot of basketball video games back then. I also googled him and fun fact he was once choked out by Shaq.
I have a similar bunch of packs as the other repacks.

I got a bit more lucky with the packs this time around. I especially like the Ben Simmons Rookie Kings card. The Kristaps Porzingis card with the word HOME in huge letters really made think of what could have been. Given the Porzingis trade and using the stretch provision on Jokaim Noah makes the Knicks all in on this year’s offseason. Given all the rumors going around I don’t have high hopes for the Knicks at all.
The NBA draft is right around the corner! I am always obsessed with the NBA offseason so I find the draft a lot of fun! Anyways I needed to go back to Target the other day and I picked up another 3 Point Basketball repack. It is guaranteed 1 autograph card, 1 memorabilia card, 1 hobby pack and 3 other basketball packs.
My guaranteed autograph is a Hilton Armstrong signed jersey card #4/249 and my memorabilia card is a Chris Paul jersey card #34/149. The Chris Paul card is actually not a bad pull! I am actually kind of surprised.
My packs are:
2013-14 Panini Basketball Hobby
1991- 92 Skybox Basketball (Meh)
2016-17 Panini Complete Basketball
2017 Panini Contenders Draft Picks
I didn’t get as lucky from the packs. I just got a Victor Oladipo rookie Knight School insert. Everything else is going straight to the bulk box.
I have been looking for these 3 point basketball repacks so I was happy to see them back in stock. It is probably best to keep your expectations low with repacks but this repack is guaranteed 1 autograph card, 1 memorabilia card, 1 hobby pack and 3 other basketball packs for $15.
My packs are:

My hits are a Vin Baker jersey card and an autograph of Justin Anderson so definitely not the most exciting cards. At least Vin Baker was a Knicks at some point of his career (if I remember right) and Justin Anderson is still in the NBA.
My most exciting pull from the packs has to be a Klay Thompson foil parallel #16/99. The only other cards of note are a few rookie cards and inserts of random players.
Overall not the worst repack I opened. Justin Anderson can still be a good player in NBA.
The NBA Finals are almost here! Honestly all my teams have been eliminated so I guess I will root for the Golden State Warriors… Anyways as the season comes to a (hopefully exciting) close, I wanted to open some basketball packs one more time so I got this 2018-19 Panini Threads Basketball hangar box. It has 2 hangar box rookie card exclusives (on average). I am hoping for rookie cards of Deandre Ayton, Luka Dončić, Trae Young, Kevin Knox or Rodions Kurucs.
I am honestly not too happy about my rookie cards or my pulls. I actually find those rookie jersey card inserts kind of ugly too. They look like a bad photoshop job. Thinking about it, I also find the foiling process they used on this set to be kind of ugly too…
The Brooklyn Nets are going to the playoffs and the Knicks have the worst record in the NBA… I honestly haven’t been excited about a Knicks game in like forever and they seem to be stuck in an endless cycle of mediocrity. So I am officially jumping to the Brooklyn Nets bandwagon. They are fun to watch, have a ton of potential and their arena is a lot nicer too!
Anyways I haven’t opened a box of basketball cards in also like forever. But I have been getting that itch again and plus I got this box of 2017- 18 Donruss Optic Basketball for a really good price. I am hoping for good rookie and Brooklyn Nets cards!
The first thing I noticed is that there is a ton of empty space in the box. There is only 10 packs per “mega box” with 4 cards per pack so 40 cards total. The second thing I noticed is that the cards are quite shiny. Always a good thing. Finally the third thing is in this product Donruss Optic, you actually pull more rookie cards than base cards. If you count the inserts, there are 27 rookie cards and 13 non- rookie cards. I found that interesting.
Anyways I didn’t get a hit but I did pull a bunch of good rookie cards like Jayson Tatum, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell. It is looking like the 2017 NBA draft class is going to be a strong one. I also got a Prizm Court Kings parallel of Giannis Antetokounmpo. So overall I pretty happy with this box.
On a sad note, I just found out my local card shop just went out of business and this was the last box from there. I am super bummed out since now the only place to really pick up baseball or basketball cards near me is Target. Chameleon Comics has been in business for 30 years and I probably have been going there for over 20 years. Everyone working their was super friendly and I wish them nothing but the best. I am really going to miss that place.
I stumbled about these 2018-19 Panini NBA Player of the Day packs. I don’t really know too much about these packs but I got two of them.
Here are my pulls.
What a weird collection of players… Lonzo Ball, Stephen Marbury, Anthony Davis and Grant Hill. I actually forgot Stephen Marbury played for the Nets.
Maybe it is just the stores in New York City but I have noticed that there are less and less basketball cards at big box stores like Target (but I have noticed it a bit in my local card shops too). This includes blasters, loose packs, blister packs, repacks, etc. There are a ton of football, baseball, Star Wars, WWE or Pokemon cards on the shelves though. In fact I only found loose packs of 2018-19 Donruss Basketball in one Target close to me so I bought just one pack to check it out. I am kind of hoping for some Brooklyn Nets cards (maybe for the first time ever).
I didn’t pull any Nets player but I did pulled a Mitchell Robinson rookie card so that alone made the pack worth the $2 I spent.
I hope basketball cards don’t disappear completely and I also wish that Panini didn’t have the exclusive contract with the NBA. I miss being excited about basketball cards…
It is hard to be excited about basketball when the team you root for is the New York Knicks… I am kind of stats guy and I think a lot of the time I find the NBA draft and offseason more entertaining than the actual NBA season. And this offseason was crazy to say the least. Of course the Knicks didn’t do anything of note but the Warriors keep getting stronger and the Lakers are either going to be very good or they are going to be really dysfunctional. Anyways with that in mind, I was getting the itch to open some packs again and I picked up this three point basketball repack. It has one guaranteed autograph, one memorabilia card and four packs (one of them being a hobby pack.)
The four packs were 2015-16 Donruss Basketball, 2016-17 Donruss Basketball, 2016- 17 Panini Complete Basketball and Upper Deck Kansas Basketball hobby pack. Here are all the interesting cards including the hits I got from the repack.
I usually have low expectations for repacks but even then these pulls are pretty bad. My autograph is of Brooks Thompson who I actually had to look up on wikipedia and my memorabilia cards is of Demetrius Jackson who I also had to look up. At least Brooks Thompson played for the Knicks for 17 games. His autograph is numbered out of 7,750 cards. I can’t imagine signing that many cards! One cool thing about this particular card is it is 2,222/ 7,750. The best card of the bunch is probably the most eye catching one, the Richard Jefferson prism parallel of some sort. The last thing I want to add is that the Upper Deck Kansas cards are really, really ugly. That blue fabric background and the giant KANSAS text does not work. I think most would agree that Upper Deck during the last few years have really been phoning it in.
I saw a 2014 Panini Golden Age blaster for sale at K-Mart and it was a no brainer. Panini Golden Age follows the Allen & Ginter formula by having an eclectic mix of cards so it seems like a box break would be a lot fun. Here are my pulls.
This was a really good blaster with two hits. Every blaster is guaranteed an exclusive Legends of Music relic card and I pulled Liberace. Weird. I love the fact Joey Ramone got a card in the set and with a little digging I found out I could have pull of relic of his in the same insert set. I was surprised I actually pulled an autograph out of this blaster too. I am not too familiar with Jorge Velasquez career but he seems to have a storied history. The sticker stamps inserts are seem like a neat idea but it not really something I collect.
Finally there seems like a millions different backs for the mini cards. I think the Smith’s Mello- Mint parallel is one of the rarest of the bunch and I got one with Mark Koenig. The rest of the top row are Hindu backs and the bottom rows are Mono backs.
I wished I knew more about Panini Golden Age when it first came out. I like Panini Americana and this set is way better. It looks like Panini actually put some effort in it. All in all, this set is right up my alley and I would definitely pick up more blasters or boxes if I ever come across it.
So I was back in the bargain bin and I found this blaster of 2012- 13 Panini Prestige Basketball. Cutting to the chase, I pulled a Russell Westbrook jersey card!
Not bad. The rest of the cards in the blaster is just base cards and an insert here and there.
The only other card of note is probably the Klay Thompson rookie card. I can’t be too disappointed with the pulls though especially I got this blaster for sale.
