2017 Topps WWE Road to Wrestlemania Rack Packs

Wrestlemania is right around the corner and I have two rack packs of 2017 Topps WWE Road to Wrestlemania. This set highlights all the major events building up to WWE’s biggest event!

2017 topps wwe road to wrestlemania

The Club and the Godfather cards are some sort of parallel, bronze? It is not a good look in my opinion. I didn’t pull one but with John Cena Tribute cards in the product I guess he replaces Hulk Hogan as the go to wrestler to put in every WWE set.

Honestly Road to Wrestlemania is not my favorite set year after year. I find they make for boring pack breaks and they rarely change up the formula. But if you look back in my blog, I seem to buy at least a pack of this set every year and this year I didn’t pull anything interesting…

So some positives. The Wrestlemania inserts stand out which only proves that simpler is better and it is kind of fun to look back at everything that happen in the WWE in the last few months. But I am probably going to put these cards in my bulk box and probably won’t look at it again.

(Wait… I just look up the set and you can pull a Shinsuke Nakamura autograph is this set???. Ok I may have to roll the dice on a hobby box.)

My New York Comic Con 2016 Haul!

New York Comic Con is easily one of my favorite times of year. I go every year and I am always looking for fun and interesting things to add to my collection…

One of my first purchases was a mini painting of BB-8 by Brendan Shaw. I love it and I have a place for it right next to my computer.

BB 8 Mini Painting

Also got this convention exclusive Batman with Bomb Heroclix figure. The bomb is a like a game of hot potato so this seems like a fun figure to play with. I am going to try it out the next time I get to play Heroclix.

Batman with Bomb Heroclix

I also got Carcassonne: Gold Rush. Carcasonne is one of my favorite board games of all time but I played it a ton this summer so I was looking for something a little different. There were actually a bunch of board games I kind of wanted but I am running out of room on my shelf so I have to be more picky.

Carcassonne Gold Rush

Every year I pick up a mystery box and this year I picked up one centered around comics. This mystery box has a pack of 10 random comics, a graphic novel and two random items which can be Pop dolls, toys, valuable comics, trading cards etc. They claimed the items are valued at $60- $100.

Comics Mystery Box

I got a couple of interesting comics in my bundle (Doctor Who, Shadow of the Bat, Marvel Tales Starring Spider-Man, X-Factor, Fear Itself & more) and a Buffy graphic novel. My two random items are World of Krypton #1 (which has a $12 price tag) and a Batman metal business card holder which I now use to hold a game of Love Letter.

Another awesome comic I got was this Lucha Underground one I got from their panel.

One of my favorite vendors in New York Comic Con sells sealed boxes of trading cards and I think I buy something from them every year too. This year I got a box of 2016 Leaf Signature Series Wrestling. I couldn’t resist eight autographs for $99.

And I got a great box! The eight autographs are of Lita, Al Snow, X- Pac, Chris Masters 3/50, Nick Bockwinkel, Nikita Koloff, Kama/Tatanka 4/15 and Ric Flair.

Random Pack Break: 2016 Topps WWE Rack Pack

I have been lucky with Topps WWE rack packs lately so I thought to try another one. This time I have a 2016 Topps WWE rack pack. There are 21 cards per packs and it says to look out for The Rock Tribute cards.

2016 Topps WWE

The first thing I notice about this set is that there are a lot of retired wrestlers (I guess they called them WWE legends) in the set. In fact, 15 out of the 21 cards in the pack are retired wrestlers, 4 are active wrestlers and 2 are NXT wrestlers. It might be a small sample size but I find it interesting. I pulled a Rock Tribute card but I really only care about the NXT cards as I am still trying to collecting all things NXT.

I Picked Up Another Rack Pack of 2016 Topps Road to Wrestlemania and

I pulled a shirt relic card of Paige, 21/350.

Paige Relic

Interestingly enough one of the corners of this relic card is slightly dented like my pull from my other pack of 2016 Topps Road to Wreslemania.  It is straight out of the pack and the other cards aren’t dented. Anyways, here are some of my other pulls from the pack.

So I am 2 for 2 with 2016 Topps Road of Wrestlemania rack packs!

Random Pack Break: 2015 Topps WWE & Run’A Bot Biz Saiyuki Figure

I was cleaning my closet the other day and I found a value pack of 2015 Topps WWE and weird sealed box of Run’A Bot Biz Saiyuki figures among other random things. I have no idea where I got them from but I suspect they were part of those mystery boxes with random goodies that you find in comic cons and monthly subscription boxes.

First off the 2015 Topps WWE pack… and I got a bunch of doubles. Even the NXT card in the pack was a double. But I did get this

Virgil Parallel

It is a black parallel of WWE legend Virgil. Yea this pack is not too exciting.

The other pack is a bit more interesting. I couldn’t find much about it but it is a random collectible mini figure from the anime Saiyuki. If I got it right, Run’A Bot Biz is the company that makes these figures.

Bronze figure of Lirin

I think it is a bronze parallel of the character Lirin. I don’t know a thing about Saiyuki so I have no idea who this is or even if this figure is worth anything.

I Picked Up a Rack Pack of 2016 Topps Road to Wrestlemania and

I picked up a rack pack of 2016 Topps Road to Wrestlemania and…

Kevin Von Erich Autograph

I pulled a Kevin Von Erich autograph!!

Pros:
It is an autograph from a rack pack.
The Von Erichs are a legendary wrestling family.
The autograph is on card which never happens especially in a Topps WWE product.
It is 1/50!

Con:
One of the cons of an on card autograph is that one of corners of the card is slightly dented straight out of the pack.

Still the pull of just one rack pack of Road to Wrestlemania has beaten all the pulls of boxes of past years’ Road to Wrestlemania.

2015 Topps Road to Wrestlemania Blaster Break

I have today a blaster of 2015 Topps Road to Wrestlemania.

I have to be honest Road to Wrestlemania is not one my favorite sets. The previous year’s product was kind of blah and not much seems to have changed this year. (The hits in the set are also kind of blah for the record.) One thing about this set is in a blaster and probably in a hobby box too you get almost as many inserts as base cards. The inserts are about what you expect: a ton of Rock cards, a ton of John Cena cards, highlights of past Wrestlemanias and Hall of Famers. My favorite of the bunch are the bizarre Wrestlemania matches inserts. You also get a blue parallel every other pack.

Every blaster comes with a relic card and I pulled

Dolph Ziggle Relic Card

a Dolph Ziggler shirt card. I honestly find Dolph Ziggle boring but at least this relic card doesn’t have the usual boring white swatch.

WWE Legends seems to have a rough time as a late. Hulk Hogan is probably the biggest name to be in the news and he is all over this product. He is on every box, on a few hits, a few base cards and he is even has his own insert set.

Topps Road to Wrestlemania Hulk Hogan

Unfortunately now he is scrubbed from the WWE Universe and I wonder will we finally have a break from all the Hulk Hogan cards. Between the WWE cards and the TNA cards I have a ton and I mean a ton of random Hulk Hogan cards. Speaking of which, guess who else has a card in this set

Topps Road to Wrestlemania Jimmy Superfly Snuka

Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. He too is being erased from the WWE Universe.
